Merchandise Manager Description

Reports To: Head Golf Professional
Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary and Position Objective:
To assist the head Golf Professional in providing outstanding service to Members and their guests. To
provide the Membership with a great selection of merchandise in a neat and orderly manner for Golf Shop.

Essential Functions:
• Provide excellent service to members and their guests making them feel welcome and
comfortable
• Directly responsible for Golf Shop appearance including displays and order of store
• Professional manner when selling Golf Shop merchandise by anticipating member needs and
buying habits
• Answer phones and handling starting time reservations for members
• Assist Head Golf Professional in ordering of men and ladies apparel
• Manage all special order business through the Golf Shop (special order book)
• Directly responsible for processing of inventory from receiving to pricing to reconciliation with
accounting
• Directly responsible with the dealings with Club Essentials POS system
• Assist with member sponsored outings
• Track “open to buy” dollars through “OTB” retail analysis
• Organize storage room
• Organize monthly inventory. Make sure appropriate staff assists in the monthly count
• Maintain file cabinet with pertinent day to day log of merchandise sales and create new files as
needed
• In charge of artwork files and quality of logoing of goods
• Create Member database including size reference cards, favorite styles, and all buying habits
• Set up process to receive goods and put into inventory
• Ordering of Golf Shop (gift bags, and incidental shopping items)

Required Competencies/Skills:
• Should possess a friendly & courteous attitude.

Required Experience:
• Prior experience as an Merchandiser

Measures of Performance:
90 Day Evaluation/Annual Evaluations

Work Environment:
50% of work in outside environment. Must be able to withstand heat/conditions outside

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb, stoop, bend, reach & extend, as needed, stand/walk an 8-hour shift.

Expected Hours of Work:
40 Hours a Week

Education/Training Requirements:
AGM Certified

Preferred Education and Experience:
College Degree Preferred
