The perfect candidate would be a golfer, or someone who is familiar with golf, who has a passion for merchandising. The focus of the Merchandiser’s responsibility will be handling the incoming merchandise purchases, receiving invoices, tagging items, creatively and attractively displaying apparel and accessories, and buying for future seasons.

The ideal candidate must be able to work well in a team environment, and a fast-paced environment. If you believe you have the right customer-focused personality and the enthusiasm to do the job, or learn the job, you would be a great fit. I am happy to train a less experienced person if they are right fit for the team and the club. The most important characteristic I am seeking is willingness to learn, willingness to grow, and become part a successful team.

Expect to work 40 hours per week, 5 days per week in season, and expect to work 32 hours per week, 4 days a week in the summer.

I. Essential Function
    a. Responsible for the overall retail operation of the golf shop. Create merchandising displays to maximize sales and product turnover. Provide superior customer service.

II. Essential Requirements
   a. Must be available to work weekends.
   b. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
   c. Must be able to balance and work safely at heights.

III. Additional Responsibilities
   a. Answers questions concerning club services.
   b. Maintains billing charges of members and guests; submits billing charges to accounting department in a timely manner.
   c. Promotes daily golf shop sales and superior customer relations.
   d. Plans, promotes, merchandises and markets special events and sales.
   e. Develops and maintains shop displays.
   f. Monitors the receiving and checking-in of all merchandise.
   g. Processes all paperwork and coding on invoices.
   h. Assists Director of Golf with yearly budgets and merchandise goals and strategies.
   i. Coordinates quarterly inventories.
   j. Monitors procedures for special orders and returns.
   k. Assists customers with merchandise selections; works at sales counter as necessary, answer golf shop phones.
   l. Creates and maintains an approved vendor list.
   m. Supervises and maintains the point-of-sale (POS) system.
   n. Orders special order merchandise for members.
   o. Charges member and guests for golf cart usage.
   p. Coordinates shop changeovers for special events and seasons.
   q. Attends staff meetings.
   r. Any other functions as requested by the employee’s supervisor that is within the course and scope of the employee’s job description.

IV. Knowledge & Skill Requirements
   a. Knowledge of all aspects of the retail business including purchasing, selling, displaying, budgeting and the ability to build relationships with sales representatives.

Base pay is $47,000
