Step by Step: MGI’s Approach to Innovation for the Walking Golfer

A promotional graphic for an MGI Vendor Spotlight featuring a man in a grey quarter-zip pullover and navy trousers operating an MGI electric golf caddy on a grassy course. The caddy holds a large black golf bag filled with clubs. The MGI logo, featuring a multi-colored star, is positioned in the top right corner, while a small AGM logo is in the bottom left. The background shows a sandy bunker, a white golf flag, and a cloudy sky.

The game of golf is steeped in tradition, yet it’s also a space where technology continues to push boundaries. Few areas highlight this balance more than the walking game, where convenience, performance, and health all intersect. In this Q&A, we explore how MGI approaches product design, testing, and innovation, and how they see the role of walking evolving in golf’s future.

AGM: What sets your products apart in a competitive market?

MGI: We pride ourselves on listening closely to the needs of golfers, using real feedback to guide the design of our innovative products. By focusing on the challenges and preferences players have, our products are both purposeful and high performing, continually improving and innovating with every release to enable modern golfers to walk the course with ease.

AGM: What’s your most popular product, and why do you think it’s been so successful?

MGI: Our MGI Zip Navigator AT has been a standout product for us across international markets. Our patented gyroscope technology ensures it is designed for all-terrain performance, handling even the most challenging, hilly courses. The full directional remote control offers effortless operation, allowing golfers to walk the course freely and focus solely on their game. Plus, the 4-wheel design provides superior stability even on the toughest of courses.

AGM: Can you share insights into your product testing and quality assurance processes?

MGI: All our products undergo rigorous testing at multiple stages from design to customer. Pre-launch our models are strategically tested within our facilities for reliability, stability and wear & tear. Then they hit the Golf Course usually in Australia for months of stress testing on-course. We have specific testing protocols to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and safety. We guarantee high performance with our 3-year warranty. The best and longest warranty offered in our category.

AGM: How do you stay innovative in product design and functionality?

MGI: One of our key strategies to stay at the forefront of innovation is to look for inspiration beyond the golfing industry. We take pride in examining how other industries are using new tech to solve issues and elevate consumer experiences. Staying ahead of the innovation curve is our strength. We continue to seek feedback from golfers and key stakeholders, enabling us to consistently lead industry trends and stay on top of the latest technology.

AGM: How do you incorporate technology and innovation in your golf products?

MGI: At MGI, technology and innovation are central to everything we do. We aim to cater products for all types of golfers. Whether you’re someone who likes to keep it simple, or a golfer who is tech-savvy, we’ve got something for every golfer. From integrated GPS systems for smarter course navigation to our patented Gyroscope Straight Tracker Technology for enhanced stability and control, every innovation is thoughtfully engineered to improve the overall golfing experience. We’re constantly exploring new ways to make our products more intuitive, reliable, and performance-driven, ensuring golfers can focus more on their game and less on managing their gear.

AGM: How do you see the golf industry evolving, and what role does your company play in this future?

MGI: We see the industry continuing to grow to become more inclusive for everyone. We’re seeing a shift towards the game becoming more accessible to new demographics, including younger players and women. We hope to be able to play a role in getting more people involved in this great game, helping to modernise the game and giving players of all abilities the tools they need to walk the course and improve not only their golf skills, but to lead a healthier lifestyle.

AGM: What message would you like to leave with AGM members about your brand and products?

MGI: We believe that walking the course not only enhances a golfer’s performance but also contributes to better health and improved focus. Our mission is to make that walk as enjoyable and effortless as possible. Every product we design is developed with this lifestyle in mind, supporting golfers who choose to walk, and continuing to lead the way in innovation and development to make this happen. MGI is here to elevate the member’s experience, while providing new revenue streams through pro shop sales and fleet programs and daily rental free opportunities. We love golf and we love supporting the industry. Talk to one of our MGI Reps about how we can help make a real impact at your Club and Pro Shop.
