From College Idea to Pro Shop Staple: The Story of Pin Hunters Golf

Launched in 2022, Pin Hunters set out to reimagine one of golf’s most overlooked accessories: the towel. By focusing on functional design, custom creativity, and a seamless ordering process, the brand has quickly earned a place in both everyday golf shops and on some of the sport’s biggest stages. From its MagTowel innovation to growing partnerships with courses and retailers nationwide, Pin Hunters continues to bring a new perspective to a familiar product.

AGM: What inspired you to start Pin Hunters and how did the name come about?

Pin Hunters: I started Pin Hunters in the summer of 2022 after my freshman year of college. At the time, I noticed golf was changing, brands like Bad Birdie were making apparel more fun and bold, but one essential product hadn’t caught up… golf towels. Every golfer carried one, two, or even three towels, yet they were overlooked and stale. I saw a chance to innovate, and Pin Hunters was born with the mission of becoming the best golf towel company in the industry. The name reflects the mindset of every golfer stepping onto the tee box, hunting pins, chasing greatness.

The sign above the rack features the brand’s logo and website. A sleek black Pin Hunters Golf Co. bag with white branding rests on a stand beside the display, all set against a vibrant green lawn and tree-filled background.
A custom golf towel featuring the text "PAYNE'S," "Big Cedar," and "Hollister" is clipped to a black golf bag standing on a green golf course. The towel includes a golfer silhouette and green, white, and yellow argyle accents. Trees and tall grass line the background.

AGM: How would you describe your brand’s mission and vision within the golf industry?

Pin Hunters: Our mission is to deliver world-class towels and accessories that elevate both the player’s experience and the pro shop’s offerings. Whether it’s a small municipal course or a prestigious private club, we aim to provide creative, reliable solutions that make life easier for merchandisers and head pros while delighting their members and guests.

AGM: What’s your most popular product, and why do you think it’s been so successful?

Pin Hunters: Our MagTowel has been a breakthrough for us. It combines a premium waffle-weave microfiber towel with our proprietary MagAdapter and a matte black carabiner. The key innovation is that the magnet and carabiner are fully detachable. That means golfers can easily remove both before tossing the towel into the washing machine and dryer. It sounds simple, but with a product that’s constantly getting dirty, being washable is essential.

Most other magnetic golf towels on the market embed the magnet directly into the towel, making it non-removable, and essentially unsafe to put through a proper wash cycle. We saw that as a design flaw and built a better solution. On the course, the magnet makes the towel incredibly practical, easy to pick up with a club or keep handy without unclipping. Off the course, it’s just as convenient to clean and maintain. That balance of functionality and innovation, paired with unlimited custom design potential for courses and events, is why the MagTowel has resonated so strongly.

AGM: Can you walk us through your design process, especially when creating custom work for a club or event?

Pin Hunters: We’ve built our process around simplicity for the merchandiser. Often, clubs provide only a low-resolution logo or have limited artwork. We take that and create multiple mockups—always complimentary, with no setup or artwork fees. Once the design is finalized, towels are ready in 4–7 weeks, individually packaged and shipped directly to the club. We work with reps nationwide, including Catapult Group, to streamline this process. The goal is always the same: take the hassle off the pro’s plate and make the experience as seamless as possible.

The towel features a navy blue triangle with stars and the text “Folds of Honor,” along with repeating American flag icons, golf carts, golf balls, and “Patriot Mobile” logos. A wooded area and tall grass are visible in the background.

AGM: What’s your approach to selecting materials and ensuring quality in your products?

Pin Hunters: Before launching, I spent months sampling fabrics, print methods, and manufacturers until we found the perfect fit. That same partner still produces our towels today. We’re constantly sampling and testing new materials to stay ahead, but we never compromise on quality.

AGM: Has customer feedback ever significantly influenced a redesign or new product?

Pin Hunters: Absolutely. On the towel side, collaboration with courses is built into everything we do. No two clubs are the same, so every order starts with back-and-forth feedback to make sure we bring their vision to life. Sometimes that means reworking a logo that only exists as a low-res file, other times it’s adjusting colors, layouts, or design details to match a club’s branding perfectly. We’ve even created completely new logos and graphics from scratch for events when needed.

The towel is decorated with repeating geometric patterns and bordered in green, set against a grassy backdrop with trees and tall grass in the distance.

AGM: Are there any recent developments or partnerships you’re especially excited about?

Pin Hunters: We’ve been fortunate to partner with iconic courses like Payne’s Valley, Hazeltine, and TPC Sawgrass. This year, we’re also providing towels for the Junior PGA Championship and have a deal with LIV Golf to supply towels for all their teams at U.S. pro-ams in 2025. Those partnerships, alongside expanding into 27 Scheels stores nationwide, mark an exciting new chapter for Pin Hunters.

AGM: What’s been a defining challenge in your time building your brand in golf?

Pin Hunters: One of the biggest challenges has been credibility. At 22, fresh out of college, I often wasn’t taken seriously in such a relationship-driven industry. But proving ourselves with high-profile clients and consistently delivering exceptional products has changed that narrative. Now, instead of explaining why a course should take a chance on us, we’re proud that our work speaks for itself.

AGM: How do you plan to expand or evolve your product line in the next few years?

Pin Hunters: Our core will always be towels, but we’re expanding into hats, brushes, and lifestyle accessories that fit seamlessly into a pro shop. Custom hats are a huge growth area, and we’re refining small-batch customization for brushes and other products. Longer-term, I see Pin Hunters filling out an entire pro shop with a cohesive line of high-quality, innovative gear.

AGM: What message would you like to leave with AGM members about your brand and products?

Pin Hunters: Pin Hunters may be a young brand, but we’re serious about quality, service, and innovation. Our products are world-class, our process is seamless, and we’ll work day and night to make sure your experience, and your customers’ experience, exceeds expectations.

Conclusion

Pin Hunters highlights how a simple product like a golf towel can evolve through thoughtful design and attention to detail. With custom options, practical features, and steady growth into new product categories, the brand continues to find its place in both everyday shops and larger events.
