On October 6, 2026, a group of AGM members spent the morning in Peoria, Arizona, as guests of Antigua. They opened their doors, handed us each a pair of safety glasses, and walked us right onto the factory floor.
I have known this brand, and many of the people who represent it, for the better part of two decades. But knowing a brand and standing inside the place where it comes to life are two very different things.
For a lot of the retailers who joined us at this AGM Regional Event, it was the first time they had ever seen how a golf garment actually gets made. We tend to meet product at the very end of its journey. It arrives in a box, we steam it, we merchandise it, we sell it. What most of us never get to see is everything that happens before that box ever ships.
On this tour, we got to see it.
We watched a plain, blank garment make its way through the stages that turn it into a finished piece. We saw how a logo finds its way onto a shirt, and just how many steps, and how many careful hands, that one small detail really takes. We saw the attention that goes into getting a stitch right, a placement right, a color right. These are things most customers will never think about. Honestly, they are things a lot of us in retail had never stopped to think about either.
That is what made it so fascinating. It was a real glimpse behind the curtain, and for many in our group, it was eye-opening.
What struck me most was not any single machine or step. It was the pride. You could feel it in how people worked. Everyone on that floor seemed to understand that the garment moving through their hands was going to end up on someone’s back, and that it had better be right.
Here is what I took away from the morning. When you sell a brand, it can start to feel like a logo and a line sheet. A tour like this one turns it back into people. Real people, with real pride in their craft. I think every merchandiser who walked that floor will look at an Antigua piece a little differently now, and sell it a little better too.
Antigua is a brand with decades of history, and what I saw is a team that is not resting on any of it. They are still asking how to make the fit better, the feel better, the product more worth believing in. That is exactly the kind of partner we hope to see standing behind the product on our members’ shelves.
And they took wonderful care of us. Coffee to start, a lovely lunch to finish, and the kind of hospitality that made us feel less like a tour group and more like family. Antigua has long been a friend to the people of golf retail, and this visit was one more example of it.
This is what AGM is really about. Not just information, but connection. The chance to stand somewhere new, together, and come away understanding our own world a little more deeply than we did the day before.
To the whole Antigua team, thank you. For the doors you opened, the time you gave us, and the reminder that behind every brand we love is a group of people who care, deeply, about getting it right.
So let me ask you this. When was the last time a brand you carry surprised you, in the very best way?
