The Association of Golf Merchandisers (AGM) brought its Northeast community together on April 22nd for a dynamic regional event hosted at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ. The afternoon delivered a thoughtful blend of education, peer collaboration, and meaningful industry dialogue, welcoming AGM merchandisers, PGA professionals, and key vendor partners for a highly engaging experience.

Thanks to the generous support of Tharanco Lifestyles and Hudson Sutler, attendees were able to enjoy a well-curated program designed to spark ideas and strengthen connections across the golf retail landscape.

AGM members and golf industry professionals seated at round tables during a regional networking and discussion event inside a bright clubhouse dining room overlooking the golf course.

Networking & Retail Discussions

The event kicked off with a casual networking lunch, setting the tone for an open and collaborative afternoon. From there, participants moved into interactive roundtable sessions where conversations flowed across a range of timely retail topics. Discussions explored how trunk shows are evolving across club environments, the continued rise of athleisure in golf shops, and the ongoing balance between lifestyle merchandising and maintaining traditional club standards.

Additional insights centered on seasonal planning, with attendees sharing current priorities as they head into the busy summer months, along with emerging opportunities unique to the Northeast market. The format encouraged honest dialogue and practical takeaways, reinforcing the value of peer-to-peer learning within the AGM community.

Fireside Chat & Podcast Recording

A standout moment of the day was a live-recorded fireside chat for the AGM podcast, The Fairway to Retail Success. Moderated by Justine Cook, the conversation featured Susan Shade of Tharanco Lifestyles and Jake Lecky of Hudson Sutler. Together, they explored shifts in today’s golf consumer, regional buying behaviors, and how strong vendor-club partnerships continue to influence successful retail strategies.

Inside the Baltusrol Golf Shop

Attendees also had the opportunity to step inside the recently renovated Baltusrol Golf Shop during a guided tour led by Maggie Flurschutz. The walkthrough highlighted the shop’s updated design concept, with a focus on enhancing both the member experience and day-to-day operational efficiency. Notable features included the introduction of a dedicated Members Only Room, as well as strategic improvements to storage, backstock, and receiving areas that support a more streamlined workflow behind the scenes.

Closing Reception & Appreciation

The event wrapped up with a cocktail reception, offering a relaxed environment for continued networking and conversation among peers and partners.

Special thanks go to Maggie Flurschutz, Director of Retail at Baltusrol Golf Club and AGM Northeast Regional Liaison, along with the entire Baltusrol team, for their outstanding hospitality. Appreciation is also extended to Kristen Everard, Director of Retail at Mountain Ridge Country Club and AGM Northeast Regional Liaison, for her support of the region.

The AGM also recognizes the contributions of its industry partners, including Susan Shade and Shannon Pfundheller from Tharanco Lifestyles, and Jake Lecky, Mike Chepucavage, and Allie Reid from Hudson Sutler, whose involvement added meaningful depth to the day’s programming.

Most importantly, thank you to the AGM members whose participation made the event so impactful. Gatherings like this highlight the strength of the AGM network and underscore the importance of shared knowledge, collaboration, and continued innovation within the golf retail industry.
