Designed for the Way Women Play: The Story Behind ERIN BAILEY

Promotional brand graphic for ERIN BAILEY women's golf apparel. Two smiling women stand together against a light neutral background wearing coordinated golf outfits. One model wears a sleeveless navy golf dress with a collared neckline and a white golf glove, while the other wears a sleeveless blush mock-neck golf top with a matching skirt, belt, and golf glove tucked into her waistband. On the right side of the image, the ERIN BAILEY name appears beneath the brand's winged leopard logo. The image conveys a modern, approachable women's golf apparel brand focused on stylish, functional performance clothing.

ERIN BAILEY was founded on the simple belief that women shouldn’t have to compromise when it comes to golf apparel. Inspired by founder Erin Barney’s lifelong connection to the game and nearly two decades in the apparel industry, the brand was created to deliver thoughtfully designed pieces that combine fit, function, and style without sacrificing practicality. In this Vendor Spotlight, Erin shares the inspiration behind the brand, the challenges she’s set out to solve, and why meaningful partnerships with golf shops remain central to the company’s mission.

AGM: What inspired the creation of ERIN BAILEY, and what opportunity did you see within women’s golf apparel?

As a child, I was my grandmother’s guest at her Municipal Tuesday morning ladies’ golf league. There was something about watching a group of impeccably dressed women drink 10am highballs and play below average golf that made me feel like I was getting a preview of my future. I have achieved the “playing below average golf” part, but I struggled to find apparel to make me feel impeccably dressed like those ladies.

Ultimately, I want more women and girls to have access to and play golf. ERIN BAILEY was born from a desire to honor my grandmother, Eileen Bailey, who introduced me and so many other women to golf, and create truly functional and stylish apparel for women.

The marketplace is evolving quickly, but the women’s category still has a lot of opportunity for woman-led and -designed brands. Of course, pockets matter; that’s low-hanging fruit. The product also needs to have a point of view, fit properly, and flatter the wearer, all while being retail-friendly. That means giving clubs the ability to serve their membership without requiring dozens of SKUs.

Ana is captured mid-swing as she strikes a golf ball from the bunker, sending a spray of sand into the air. She wears a black sleeveless mock-neck golf top, coordinating black golf skort, white golf glove, white golf shoes, and dark sunglasses. Trees, fairway, and a clear blue sky form the background, while the dynamic motion highlights the performance, flexibility, and athletic design of the women's golf apparel in authentic on-course play.

AGM: How has your perspective as both an apparel industry veteran and a golfer influenced the kinds of problems you set out to solve?

Having spent most of my career with large apparel brands, I learned how important it is to be consumer centric. I have the advantage of being one of the consumers I’m looking to serve with ERIN BAILEY.

Rather than creating fashion for golf, we designed product for women who play. Every seam, fabric choice, and silhouette has a purpose. If a feature doesn’t improve the experience for the consumer, it doesn’t make the garment.

AGM: What principle has been non-negotiable since launching ERIN BAILEY?

Quality.

From day one we’ve believed women shouldn’t have to compromise. We look at any items created through three pillars.

Fit. Function. Fabric.

If something doesn’t satisfy all three, it isn’t a good fit for our brand.

AGM: How do you balance technical performance with creating apparel women genuinely want to wear?

Performance should never come at the expense of looking polished. We begin with fit, elevate it with premium fabrics and thoughtful construction, and finish with functional details that make the garment work harder on the course. Our goal is to not make an item worn for one season, but a staple piece the customer will come back to time and time again.

AGM: How do you determine whether a garment is truly ready for market?

We obsess over the details, but prior to production, we fit everything on actual golfers, not runway models. I’ve played golf in every prototype before final approvals. That includes a fun stretch as I was heading into my third trimester pregnant with my daughter. When I tell you the waist on our TITLE skirt is “no dig,” I mean it.

The same model is shown in three poses wearing a navy sleeveless mock-neck golf top, blush pink golf skort, and white golf shoes against a clean white background. In the center image, she gently pulls the adjustable side drawstrings to customize the skort length, revealing how the ruching changes the fit. The left and right images show the skort at different adjusted lengths from the front and back, highlighting the garment's versatile styling options and functional design for women's golf apparel.

AGM: Which piece has become the standout favorite in the collection so far, and why do you think customers are drawn to it?

Without question, the TITLE Skirt.

It’s our signature piece featuring our patent-pending hidden adjustable-length construction that allows women to customize their coverage. I’m on the shorter side and was struggling to find skirts I felt good in that didn’t hit my knees. While taller ladies don’t often need more length, they still want style. Golf clubs have to serve both of us. This skirt allows for any woman to wear the style how she wants, which sometimes changes from time to time, and for clubs to target a much wider portion of their membership with less SKUs.

I believe it’s the best skirt on the market.

A model wearing a navy golf skort lifts the outer layer to reveal built-in shorts with multiple storage pockets. A smartphone is securely stored in one thigh pocket, a metal divot repair tool is clipped to another pocket, and a white golf glove is tucked into a back waistband pocket. The image emphasizes the skort's practical pocket design, concealed storage, and on-course functionality while showcasing the garment's performance fabric and construction.

AGM: How do you help golf shops tell the ERIN BAILEY story once the collection arrives on the sales floor?

We want our partners to succeed. The brand has to help clubs tell its story to their membership. How is the brand introduced? Do women know there’s something new in the shop? Can the staff speak to how the collection would meet the needs of a member looking for direction?

Helping our partners answer those questions is part of our job.

Every partner receives a concise, five-minute product overview focused on the key things every associate should know about the collection. In addition, we provide digital assets, lifestyle photography, social content, in-store signage and merchandising support. We intentionally built a streamlined collection that’s easy to merchandise, making it simple for golf shops to tell a cohesive brand story.

For us, the purchase order is the beginning of the relationship, not the end.

AGM: Looking ahead, what opportunities are you most excited to explore as ERIN BAILEY continues to grow?

The opportunity is twofold.

First, we believe there’s room to build a true golf wardrobe, not just golf outfits. Women don’t only need apparel for the four hours they’re on the course. They want pieces that work for a range session, travel to a golf trip, lunch at the club, or wherever the rest of their day takes them. We’ll always design through a golf-centric lens, but we’re excited to continue expanding what that wardrobe looks like.

Second, we’re excited to continue partnering with more clubs across the country. Our mission has always been to help more women and girls play golf, and green-grass facilities are at the center of making that happen. If we can continue creating products that solve real problems for women while making it easier for clubs to serve their membership, we’ll be accomplishing exactly what we set out to do.

AGM: Has there been a moment since launch that made you think, “This is exactly why I started this company?”

I was visiting one of our club partners when a dad shopping with his daughter asked if our apparel came in kids’ sizes. The golf professional pointed to me and said, “This is Erin—you can ask her.” As a little girl, I don’t remember meeting many women who were the owner, founder, or ultimate decision maker in their business. Knowing that young girls are now seeing women in these roles is really meaningful to me.

Another came more recently when an up-and-coming professional golfer told me that after wearing our TITLE Skirt for the first time, she “felt taller.” I don’t know what it’s like to compete at that level, but I do know confidence matters. If our apparel can give someone even a little more confidence when they step onto the first tee, that’s meaningful.

Helping more women feel like they belong in the game, and helping young girls see what’s possible, is exactly why I started ERIN BAILEY.

AGM: What final message would you like to leave with AGM merchandisers who are considering introducing ERIN BAILEY to their shops?

ERIN BAILEY was built by a golfer with nearly two decades of apparel experience and who understands both product development and the golf business.

We’re committed to being more than another apparel vendor. We want to be a true partner to our accounts. Our collection is intentionally minimum-friendly and purposefully curated so clubs can confidently serve the fastest-growing segment of the game without overcommitting inventory.

There’s a lot of golf left this season. I’d love to connect and hear about your goals for the remainder of the year, and whether ERIN BAILEY can help you achieve them.

Conclusion

Through thoughtful design, consumer-first innovation, and a genuine commitment to growing the women’s game, ERIN BAILEY is redefining what women can expect from golf apparel. By focusing on fit, function, and long-term partnerships with golf shops, the brand is creating products that inspire confidence while helping retailers better serve one of the fastest-growing segments of the game.
